HORSHAM, Pa. (May 14, 2009) – More than 1,400 HR professionals recently took advantage of the must-attend HR event of the year – the 7th Annual NY HR Week™, held at the Hilton New York from May 4-6, 2009. Featuring three distinct conferences for HR practitioners as well as a product-filled Expo Hall demonstrating the latest offerings from more than 70 HR-related vendors, even during challenging economic conditions this year’s NY HR Week™ was deemed successful by attendees.
“Even in these tough economic times, NY HR Week™ continued to be an important event for senior HR executives, from both the private and public sectors, and top HRO executives, both domestically and internationally,” stated Claude J. Werder, Vice President, Human Resource Executive® Conferences. “Our first invitation-only Senior HR Executive Forum also was a great success. We’re already fielding inquiries about it for next year.” He continued, “There’s no doubt that the HR and HRO landscape is changing rapidly, and NY HR Week™ will continue to evolve along with it to meet the needs of all our stakeholders.”
With three specialized conferences from which to choose, attendees received the individualized solutions and expert advice they needed to make their HR departments operate more efficiently and effectively – no matter what industry. The leading event for proven solutions to the tactical and strategic problems associated with every phase of outsourcing HR processes, the 7th Annual HRO World® Conference & Exposition was developed in partnership with the Human Resource Outsourcing Association (HROA) and was directed by Elliot Clark, a successful HRO executive and CEO of Crossing Media Group and HRO Today magazine.
HRO World® addressed attendees’ most pressing HRO and RPO questions and provided a look beyond the HRO horizon with an industry leaders’ panel featuring recognized executives from the HRO provider, advisory and buyer communities. A special session showcased how HROA’s Research and Standards Committee has accelerated the development and adoption of effective industry standards and practices, including the standards for pricing methodologies, resource unit definitions and other critical HRO and HR transformation process elements.
R.U. Srinivas, CEO of HRO World® exhibitor, Caliber Point, commented, “Caliber Point enjoyed being part of the event and interacting with our fellow leaders in the HRO space. We are convinced the case for multi-process megadeals, while having slowed down, definitely exists, and clearly is a function of the right solution and solution provider. In the meantime, we are particularly pleased to see a validation of our own belief amongst buyers, advisors and service providers that the current economic climate is encouraging HR buyers to explore tactical single process HR outsourcing in response to corporate belt-tightening.”
The HR & EEO in the Federal Workplace™ Conference, designed in partnership with the Federal Employment Law Training Group (FELTG) and created specifically for HR, EEO and employee relations professionals in the federal government, provided 12 federal-specific sessions for attendees, as well as two pre-conference symposia addressing the subjects of federal EEO harassment claims and disruptive behavior in the federal workplace.
The HR in Healthcare™ Conference & Expo, created in partnership with Tom Olivo, Founding Partner of Healthcare Performance Solutions and President of Success Profiles, was purposely designed for senior HR leaders in healthcare institutions of all sizes. The conference included sessions with the biggest names in the HR industry on topics like cost-effective talent development strategies, achieving rapid and effective organizational change, and building a Recruitment Process Outsourcing (RPO) initiative that really works.
In addition to the inaugural Senior HR & HRO Executive Forum, which provided the opportunity for invited attendees to meet in a relaxed and collegial atmosphere, network with their peers, and explore critical issues in HR outsourcing, the NY HR Week™ event featured a keynote presentation by Steven Greenhouse, labor and workplace columnist for The New York Times. Highlighting themes from his latest book, The Big Squeeze: Tough Times for the American Worker, Greenhouse delivered a thought-provoking speech that addressed the stresses and strains faced by tens of millions of Americans in today’s workplaces. He urged HR leaders to revalorize their workforces and challenged conference attendees to rebalance shareholder, customer and employee interests; ensure that employees at all levels are working for great managers; and become strong employee advocates within their organizations.
Werder concluded, “Planning has already commenced for next year’s NY HR Week™, and we look forward to exceeding expectations with sessions dedicated to addressing the most topical issues facing HR professionals every day.”
The 8th Annual NY HR Week™ Conference will be held from April 12 through 14, 2010, once again at the Hilton New York.
